Ever since I was little I was fascinated by the idea that if you had some basic knowledge of healing plants, the medicinal properties of food and what your body required to stay in balance (healthy) you might not get sick or need a doctor. It was as an adult that I learnt 80% of illness is preventable, backing up what I'd always intuitively believed.
My whole life I have practised preventative ‘medicine’ for myself and my family using food, plants, physical and energetic self care principals drawn from self study of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic and Western Medicine. Naturally my interest eventually led to me formal study of anatomy and physiology through my remedial massage and lymphoedema qualifications, bringing me finally to my soft tissue, lymphatic and lymphoedema work.
I love what I do, and love helping people realise that with some basic knowledge about how their body works and some simple self care principles and choices, they can minimise or eliminate drugs, reduce or prevent chronic illness disease and painful movement.
My training had a strong focus on anatomy and physiology, the assessment of soft tissue dysfunction, and the means to correct them using a variety of techniques. These give me the ability to confidently get to the source of a problem, treat the muscular imbalances and prescribe corrective exercises to strengthen or stretch the problem muscles for ongoing relief.
I've also undertaken further lymphatic studies in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and Decongestive Lymphoedema Therapy (DLT). I'm a qualified lymphoedema therapist accredited with the Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA). This allows me to support those at risk or requiring management and treatment of lymphoedema after cancer treatment, medical intervention or genetically acquired lymphoedema.
Another area dear to my heart is pregnancy, birth and post natal care. I've also completed extra studies in this area allowing me to confidently and safely support women and their families through this beautiful and sometimes tricky time of life.

A few years ago, a dear friend of mine shared a philosophical view on adulthood with me that changed my whole life pathway. The view was simple, that we are teenagers from 20 – 40, adults from 40 – 60, and do our life work from 60 – 80.
When I thought back over my life, and significant events at each stage, this view was validated. As I am closer to 60 than 40, it started me thinking about what I was passionate about and really wanted to achieve in this lifetime.
Massage therapy was the answer as I want to assist people of all ages to elevate their health status. Working within a school environment for the last decade or more has highlighted the importance of active listening, professional boundaries, respect, and holistic care in a professional and safe environment. I left my lifetime career in finance, investing in myself, to gain the Diploma of Remedial Massage to enrich the lives of others in our community. Making the transition from working with figures to helping people with pain and stress management and musculoskeletal dysfunction has been incredibly rewarding.
My aim is to work with clients on their wellness journey, not only during the Remedial Massage treatment session, but with self-aftercare advice and exercises. I am committed to providing a service which focuses on making a positive difference to my clients in a caring, supportive and relaxing environment.
As well as being a diploma qualified Remedial Massage Therapist, I am certified to use traditional cupping techniques, within my scope of practice.
