Be Your Best: Injury Prevention & Recovery in Sports
Every athlete looks for an edge, let us be that edge for you. We have highly skilled massage therapists who can assess and treat your issues and collaborate with your other health care professionals - chiropractors, physio's and others.
Please call and let us help you find your edge.
Do you accept general aches and pains after game/training as normal, put up with them or try to suppress them with drugs? Massage is a natural therapy that can help fix the problem, not just mask it.
All sporting activities involve muscle activity and many sports injuries originate from direct trauma, overuse or muscle dysfunction. Soft tissue therapy and massage are the best form of treatment for muscle tension. It has distinct advantages over other therapies as it can be used on a regular basis to help prevent overuse injuries and in the treatment of specific injuries. By restoring muscles and soft tissues to their pre-activity length, shape and tone, massage is excellent for injury prevention.
Warm down and stretching are integral to a training program but they do not necessarily always resolve muscle tension, and tension can prevent full recovery. With massage, problem areas are targeted, improving and ensuring a full recovery so you can be your best.

Benefits of Sports Massage
~ Reduces pain by reflexes affecting the central nervous system. Endorphins are released inhibiting pain messages and
the perception of pain.

- Improved the supply of blood to muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints. Blood rich in oxygen is vital for repair
and growth
- Removal of muscular and lymphatic waste - it's the accumulation of this waste in tissues and joints that can
cause pain and inflammation.
~ Stretch tissue that cannot be reached by any other method
- fibres can be stretched in all directions, not just in line with attachments
- Stretch regardless of joint range of motion
- Regulate the amount of stretch applied to different muscles depending on their levels of tension
- Stretch specific structures, especially fascia - preventing problems such as compartment syndrome

Sports Massage FAQ
Q: How does massage therapy help increase athletic performance?
A: Athletic performance is increased because massage allows your body to move more efficiently and with less effort. Massage does this by increasing circulation, decreasing muscular tension and increasing joint range of motion.
Q: How long will it take for you to get results?
A: While results vary for everyone, you’ll typically know if our treatments are working within 2 to 4 visits. If you’re new to massage, sometimes we release a lot of toxins in the first few visits so progress may take a little longer. We’ll continue to discuss your progress and goals to ensure you’re receiving the correct treatment.
